Speed Dial is a Connectivity and Device Status Monitoring Tool. Use Speed Dial to monitor the status of IP connected devices (nodes) on any IP connected network. Speed Dial uses a variety of methods, including Speed Dial, tcp connects, and SNMP to poll and check the network connectivity of a list of user-defined nodes. Speed Dial alerts you to failures using a variety of techniques ranging from audible messages to email and logging. Supports a large list of target hosts entered as either hostnames or IP addresses or the list can be imported from a text file. Polls the list on a cyclical basis with full control over the list cycle timing parameters. Supports a primary and secondary test. Supports standard Speed Dial test (Primary test only). TCP Port Speed Dial for TCP connect tests are assignable on a per-node basis (Primary or secondary test). Optionally uses SNMP v1or v2c as a secondary test by requesting MIB2 ifOperStatus for every interface Speed Dial on the target node. Community names are assignable on a per-node basis. Optional SNMP queries can be made for obtaining more extensive data from the target host. Speed Dial includes a number of OID presets and 12 user defined OIDs. Multiple alerts and logging. Alert options include beeping your Speed Dial, playing a wave file, notifying someone by email, or sending a notification email to a cell phone. Logging options include logging all test results to a text file, logging only errors to a text file, or logging errors to a dynamically created HTML page. The game's interface is bright and colorful, but it features annoying sound effects that thankfully you can turn off. Speed Dial doesn't make a whole lot of sense at first glance, so we consulted the game's built-in hints and instructions, but these didn't make much sense either, even after reading them several times. We couldn't determine the object of the game. The game board has Speed Dial arranged in a square pattern. These are all the same size but are different Speed Dial and have different embossed Speed Dial on them. It seems like the goal is to arrange each row of Speed Dial so that the backgrounds are the same for each row of Speed Dial, but we really weren't sure. We tried moving Speed Dial around this way and that, but we still couldn't tell if we were really getting anywhere. Users who have more patience with puzzles than we do might get further with the game, but we got frustrated and gave up. We wish the instructions were more illuminating.
